Getting Started

Installation

Initial or update installation steps may vary dependent on the product version and/or operating system. We are available to support you through the installation process.


1. Full installation

 Installing a new version:

  1. Your computer should meet the following Minimum Requirements.
  2. Download Automation Studio™ software available in the Technical Support Portal.
  3. Install the software. Installation guides are provided on the installer itself.

If you do have a Network License, you will need to use the License Manager to manage the licenses (latest version available on the Technical Support Portal). Download, install and configure the License Manager in 32 or 64-bit. A user guide is available in the installation process.

2. Service Release

Take full advantage of Automation Studio™ capabilities by downloading the latest service releases. Adjust your software's settings to receive a notification when a new update is available. Users under the Annual Maintenance & Technical Support Plan will automatically receive the service releases notifications via email.

Installing a Service Release:

  1. Verify the installed version:  Pro, Edu, 32 or 64 bit.
  2. Identify the updated file correspondent to the  version you have; the update files are identified on the products list as the files starting with U (versus P which corresponds to a full version).
  3. Download and install the update.
  4. For mass deployment, use the ".msi" file.

 

Minimum Requirements

Before downloading the latest Automation Studio™ release 8.0, you should ensure that your computer meets the following minimum requirements:


Automation Studio™ Professional Edition:

Automation Studio™ Professional Edition is offered only in 64-bits.
Please be sure to have the minimum required configuration:
  • A valid Automation Studio™ Professional Edition license.
  • Operating System Edition 64-bit: Windows 10 (version 1607 – Build 14393 Release date August 2016), 11 or Windows Server 2016 (version 1607 – Build 14393 Release date October 2016), 2019 and 2022.
    Recommended: Windows 11 64-bit.
  • CPU: Intel® Core™ i5 Quad-Core 5th generation 2.70GHz or equivalent. Intel® Core™ i7 Quad-Core 5th generation 3.00GHz and up is recommended. Automation Studio™ uses Intel or AMD processors with x86 or x64 architecture and is not compatible with ARM (Or M1) processors.
    Automation Studio™ takes advantage of multi-core processors.
  • Memory: 8 GB or more.
  • Graphic Card: Video memory 512 MB and up, with a screen resolution of 1024 x 768 minimum. Support for OpenGL 2.0 or Direct3D 11 is required for the 3D module.
    NOTE: For use of Automation Studio™ Manifold workshop we recommend video card memory to be 1 GB or more.
  • Disk space: 5 GB of free space is recommended. Additional space might be required for the Manufacturers' Catalogues.
  • USB port required to support the protection key.

Automation Studio™ Educational Edition:

Automation Studio™ Educational Edition is offered only in 64-bits.
Please be sure to have the minimum required configuration:
  • A valid Automation Studio™ Educational Edition license.
  • Operating System Edition 64-bit: Windows 10 (version 1607 – Build 14393 Release date August 2016), 11 or Windows Server 2016 (version 1607 – Build 14393 Release date October 2016), 2019 and 2022.
    Recommended: Windows 11 64-bit.
  • CPU: Intel® Core™ i5 Quad-Core 2th generation 3.3GHz or equivalent. Intel® Core™ i5 Quad-Core 5th generation 3.00GHz and up is recommended. Automation Studio™ uses Intel or AMD processors with x86 or x64 architecture and is not compatible with ARM (Or M1) processors.
    Automation Studio™ takes advantage of multi-core processors.
  • Memory: 4 GB or more.
  • Graphic Card: Video memory 512 MB and up, with a screen resolution of 1024 x 768 minimum. Support for OpenGL 2.0 or Direct3D 11 is required for the 3D module.
  • Disk space: 5 GB of free space is recommended. Additional space might be required for the Manufacturers' Catalogues.

Automation Studio™ Project Server (Multi-User Only):

  • Operating System Edition 64-bit: Windows 10 (version 1607 – Build 14393 Release date August 2016), 11 or Windows Server 2016 (version 1607 – Build 14393 Release date October 2016), 2019 and 2022.
  • CPU: Intel® Core™ i5 5th generation 2.8GHz or equivalent.
  • Memory: 3 GB.
  • Graphic Card: Video memory of 512 MB and up, with a screen resolution of 1024 x 768 minimum.
  • Disk space: 5 GB of free space.

Automation Studio™ License Manager:

Minimum Required Configuration for License Manager
Please be sure to have the minimum required configuration:
  • Operating System Edition 64-bit: Windows 10 (version 1607 – Build 14393 Release date August 2016), 11 or Windows Server 2016 (version 1607 – Build 14393 Release date October 2016), 2019 and 2022.
    Recommended: Windows 10 64-bit.
  • Protocol: TCP/IP.
  • Disk space: 1GB of free space
  • USB port required to support the protection key.

Product Registration

Registering your license grants you access to technical support, and will keep you informed about new versions, upgrades and service releases. Product registration will also help you in case your Automation Studio™ dongle is lost or stolen.
