Excellent Support for Trainings (Liebherr-Werk Nenzing GmbH, Austria) January 5, 2017 Background Liebherr represents one of the largest construction equipment manufacturer in the world. The Liebherr-Werk Nenzing GmbH in Austria produces cable excavators, crawler cranes, and heavy construction machines. It has established itself as an innovation leader worldwide and is using the Automation StudioTM software provided by Famic Technologies Inc. to train customers and employees. Situation For many years now, different Liebherr design departments have relied on Automation StudioTM, an intuitive and powerful tool to design and simulate fluid power circuits for any machine. Two years ago, the training center in Nenzing also decided to integrate the software into its trainings. “During a customer training, one participant showed us a simulation of a pump using Automation StudioTM. This was one of the main reasons we decided to start using the software”, says Jakob Schneider, Team Leader at the Training Center in Nenzing. Understanding the component functions “Liebherr’s design team uses Automation StudioTM mainly as a CAD tool, whereas in trainings, we emphasize on making simple and understandable demonstrations of different component functions. With its fast and detailed simulation and its various diagnostic possibilities, this tool brings a valuable contribution for that purpose”, explains Jakob Schneider. “We plan to integrate the simulation into E-learning so our attendees can view different simulations in an animated video format.” Additionally, the training center plans to use Automation StudioTM for its vocational trainings in the area of Electrical Engineering. Integration of manufacturers’ catalogues For several years now, Famic Technologies has been integrating in Automation StudioTM components of well-known manufacturers which are preconfigured based on the manufacturers’ official data sheets. As the virtual components show an almost identical behaviour to their real counterparts, virtual machines can be created and used for simulation and testing in a variety of conditions. For some time, Liebherr and Famic Technologies have been developing a specific manufacturers’ catalogue, containing Liebherr components that are integrated in Automation StudioTM.
