Our First Contest! Students use Automation Studio™ Software Solution in a National Competition (Bogota, Colombia) September 10, 2015 Famic Technologies Inc., the renowned developer of Automation StudioTM, the all-in-one software solution for system design and simulation, and its authorized distributor for Colombia, Casyber LTDA, launched the first 'National Competition for automation with integrated technologies' using Automation StudioTM in cooperation with Francisco José de Caldas University and the Canadian Embassy, on September 10, 2015 in Bogota, Colombia. The contest was opened to students from engineering faculties, technology schools, and institutes of technical and vocational training in the fields of mechatronics, electrical, industrial mechanics, and related programs. Participants needed to build and design a ‘Suspension Spring Preload and Blocking System’. The system to be modeled would compress, crimp and store suspension springs in a preloaded state before being used for the assembly of vehicles to which they are dedicated. Therefore, the participants needed to model: A hydraulic system A pneumatic system An electrical system And elaborate through the creation of a control panel, the control sequencing realizing a 3-D animation in Automation StudioTM. Congratulations to José Miguel Garzón Vargas from Escuela de Ingeniería de Antioquia who won first place. Mr. Vargas was rewarded the Automation StudioTM 6.1 license along with a 3-day trip to Canada! The second- place winner went to Sergio Fernandez Rojas from Francisco José de Caldas University who was awarded an iPad mini. Famic Technologies would like to thank all engineering students who participated in this contest and is looking forward to its next edition to promote the applications knowledge development of engineering students and help them accomplish a team work based on a real world example.
