FMEA

Hydraulic circuit simulated with Automation Studio Professional Edition software

FMEA Module

The FMEA module enhances the reliability and troubleshooting of your systems. It automatically lists and analyzes any combination of potential component failures that could occur in a system by comparing current performance to expected performance and documenting the differences detected. The information collected according to IEC 60812 (FMEA) identifies potential causes and helps prioritize diagnostics, suggest workarounds or mitigation solutions. The analysis report helps to improve the design and apply the pre-established solutions, as well as optimize intervention time for both designers and maintenance technicians.

Automatically determine the ideal performances of the entire system

You will be able to quickly obtain the current performances and validate that all design criterions of your system have been met through simulation. You can improve your system from the early stages of its design.

Identification of system functions

Using functional groups, you will be able to group components that are part of a specific function and sub-function of your machine (such as: primary system, secondary system, auxiliary system, cooling function, etc.), which will be used for your FMEA analysis.

Specification of operational modes of functions

For each of the functional group identified, you will be able to define different operational modes with activation and termination conditions to measure performances. This will allow you to analyze specific modes of operations during your FMEA analysis

Analysis of component failure modes

You will be able to create and declare component failures (such as: mechanical failures, electrical failures, leaks, flow restriction and clogging), used in your FMEA analysis. From each failure declared in the components making up the system, you will be able to identify the functions that no longer meet the required performances in their specifications for all the operational modes they are supposed to support.

Analysis reports

The result of the analysis is qualitative and structures a considerable amount of information described in an automatically generated report. With the notion of added criticality, it will become quantitative which will allow you to subsequently classify them by criticality through risk assessment of failure severity, failure occurrence probability, and ease of detection.

Exporting of targeted sub reports

You can extract and share targeted information based on the issue at hand from engineering to field service technicians and maintenance shops from you extensive Automation Studio™ FMEA analysis to quickly identify and repair the problem, saving both time and money.
