What's new
What's New in Automation Studio™
Automation Studio™ - Educational Edition is all about supporting teachers in delivering content, as well as improving the student’s learning experience.
What's New in Automation Studio™
Thousands of Symbols at Hand
Comprehensive sets of libraries with ISO components that can be used to teach a wide array of subjects related to hydraulics, pneumatics, electrical and control technologies.
Dynamic, Realistic, and Visual Simulation
The simulation allows the accurate reproduction of the system behaviour in a dynamic and visual way. During simulation, components are animated, lines and wires are colour-coded according to their state.
Customizable Library
Easily create your own library with required components specific to an exercise or laboratory. Also, reproduce any Lab equipment to simulate them before the hands-on experience.
Link between all Technologies
All technologies can be linked together to create a complete mechatronic system that reinforces the student understanding of system interactions.
Realistic Measuring Instruments
Realistic measuring tools: multimeter, oscilloscope, hydraulic tester, thermometer and manometer, can be used to reproduce real life measuring experience.
Simulation Mode
The simulation modes "Normal", "Slow Motion", "Step by Step" and "Pause" allow users to control the simulation.
Virtual Systems
Using the Electrical and PLC Libraries as well as the SFC module, students simply link sensors, switches, lights, conveyors, etc., in order to make the pre-made Virtual Systems operate according to the teacher’s instructions.
Remote Access
Online remote access license connection for teachers and students. You can prepare and simulate your courses and homework from home, school or workplace.
Create Video Files of your Project
Create video files of your projects that can be used with other applications, or record the entire application for training purpose.
Cut & Paste to other Applications
Cut and Paste directly into another application with a great resolution and in colour to create assignments.
Troubleshooting
Create or activate pre-defined component failure to develop troubleshooting skills. Failures can be activated by preset conditions or manually during simulation.
Component Configuration
All components have properties that can be easily changed in order to visualize their effect during simulation. Create and configure valves, cylinders, motors, etc. to obtain a component graphically and technically compliant to real performances.
BOM
Customizable and dynamic Bill of Material that can be placed directly on the schematic or exported to create a report.
Connect to Real Devices
In order to connect Automation Studio™ to an external hardware, you can either use an I/O interface kit or an OPC Client Server.
Insert Pictures and Text on Schematics
Insert texts and images to your schematics to create complete documented circuits.
Linked Videos, Hyperlinks, Files, etc.
Document your components by adding external links to videos, files, and others, to enhance understanding of these components or systems.
Fluid Power and Electrical Plotter
With a simple Drag and Drop operation, you can plot simulated parameters which can be exported to a text file for further analysis.
IEC & NEMA Electrical Standards
Automation Studio™ offers the possibilities to create circuits using both American and European standards, to initiate students to the differences in symbols.
Variable Frequency Drives
Motor soft starters and variable frequency drives are available. VFDs are built according to manufacturers’ specifications such as Siemens™, Allen Bradley™, WEG™, etc.
Interactive Lab Exercises
Interactive exercises are available for hydraulics, pneumatics and electrical technologies. Each of them include one schematic that is automatically simulated and animated in order to graphically show the behaviour of the function represented.
Sequence diagram
The Sequence Diagram is a visual and intuitive tool that allows you to create operation sequences quickly without requiring the use of a specific control language, or an electrical control circuit.
Automotive Library
All components needed for automotive project development are now grouped into a specific library, which includes the electrotechnical components, under the SAE standard.
Link with Unity 3D
With this link, your projects will benefit from the power of the Unity 3D engine. It will allow you to see your projects evolve in their own environments with a high level of realism. This feature is ideal for adding a touch of realism to digital twins developed within Automation Studio™.
Mechanical connection ports on electrotechnical components
Electrotechnical asynchronous machines, stepper motors, permanent magnet DC motors are now equipped with mechanical connection ports. Position and speed sensors, as well as shafts and mechanical links, can be easily connected to machines facilitating the implementation of servo systems and linking to other modules.
Compressible Fluids
The simulation of new compressible fluids such as nitrogen, hydrogen, helium, methane and propane are now available in the Pneumatics Workshop.
Embedded Views
This function fulfills the training and technical publication requirements. It is used to add views from all different technologies into a single document. For example, it is possible to embed into a single page, a partial view of a hydraulic circuit, a 3D view and a partial view of a PLC, etc.
Ladder Diagram LSIS
Implementation of the new Ladder diagram module based on LSIS PLC specifications.
BOM on the document
Complete redesign of the document’s BOM (bill of materials). The new version provides great flexibility of customization for the displayed information and for the appearance. Additionally, you can now edit component properties directly from the BOM.
Electric machines
The Electrotechnical Module is now equipped with a new induction motor and a permanent magnet DC motor.
HMI 2D/3D- Animation according to Schematics
Create 2D or 3D animation linked with the circuit, enhancing your schematic and making it more visual for students. Use the 3D editor for creating and importing 3D parts in STEP, STL and IGES.
Additional simulation paces
New simulation steps of up to 200ms are available in order to enable lighter computing demands during simulation. This feature is particularly useful for large projects.
Dynamic Measuring Tool
Virtual measuring instruments can be placed directly on the component to measure a wide range of parameters that can be recorded and viewed in the Plotter.
Print & Export
Simply print to any size of paper or export your circuit in multiple formats to share with other applications.
Control Panel
Automation Studio™ allows to easly create control panel that controls your circuits, virtual systems or equipments.
Templates
Select from predefined templates or create your own with the default information of your choice like school logo, BOM, etc.
Cut-Away Animation
The animated component cross-sections illustrate the internal functioning of components. The animations are synchronized with the circuit simulation.
Manufacturers' Catalogues
Create and simulate schematics using real life component behaviour from our extensive manufacturers' catalogue that includes PDF specifications and test benches.
Mechanism Manager
Using the Mechanism Manager, mechanical bodies can be linked to Fluid Power actuators to simulate and animate their effects.
Component Sizing
Calculation worksheets are provided for hydraulics, pneumatics and electrical components which include calculation tools provided with applicable equations and parameter definitions.
Assembly and Group Editing Functions
Editing functions (add, delete and move components, modify component properties …) can be used within an existing Assembly or Group, without having to Ungroup or Disassemble its components.
Co-simulation by API
Automation Studio™ can communicate via APIs with third-party simulation software allowing users to create a model-in-the-loop (MIL) testing environment and simulate Automation Studio™ projects with other complementary multi-physics simulation software.
